DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND IMAGING - WEEK 9 & WEEK 10

WEEK 9 - 29 May 2023

WEEK 10 - 12 June 2023

Lecture Digital Photography and Imaging:

Week 9

In week 9 I learned about digital surrealism. Digital surrealism itself has a special impact on the world of art because digital surrealism can make oneself creative and dare to explore the subconscious mind, by concentrating on images of dreams and the unreal, making us think outside the box by having designs something that can attract the minds of other people to be interested.

One such example is Salvador DalĂ who was a Spanish Surrealist painter and printmaker known for exploring subconscious imagery. Salvador Dali's own work required a high level of technical expertise, precise drawing skills, and striking and bizarre drawings.

Week 10

In week 10 I had the opportunity to learn about Adobe After Effects which in my opinion was very unusual because I am personally more familiar with Adobe Photoshop than After Effects. I think Adobe After Effects is a more significant digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application to use for animation creation.

Tutorial Digital Photography and Imaging:

Week 9

Tutorial in week 9 I learned to edit in terms of moving imagery which helped me to do my final assignment, namely the cinemagraph needed to make an image into an animation or moving image. Mr. Fauzi gave examples of his work for me to practice as inspiration.

Week 10

In the tutorial in week 10, I learned about layers and other tools that work for using advanced keyframes with the aim of creating better movements such as animations. The example that Mr. Fauzi gives is the use of keyframes in the process of kinetic typography which is a moving letter with existing animation.

Practical Digital Photography and Imaging:

Week 9

In this practical in week 9 I demonstrated and practiced how to create, separate layers in Photoshop, and import .PSD into After Effects which will later be made into the exercise in week 10. Here I was given material in the form of a composition which will later create an animation of moving images through Adobe After Effects.

Week 10

In practicals in week 10, I demonstrated and practiced how to make previous compositions from photos to become moving images by utilizing keyframes for positioning, scale, masking, and so on with a duration of 15 seconds.

At this stage, I imported all the elements from Photoshop to make a moving image, and then I used a keyframe on TYPEWRITER to be able to move with the POSITIONING option with movement from bottom to top. And then I also masked the keyframe path on the FENCER object to make it look like the animation is coming from below.

At this stage, it is the same as the previous stage, namely using the keyframe on TYPEWRITER to move the moving shark image with the POSITIONING option by moving from the bottom corner to the top corner.

Then at this stage, I use Null Object -> Parents which will give the option to animate all objects without having to move or animate one. Also, don't forget to make the movement of objects smooth, I use the keyframe assistant -> Easy ease with the aim of giving the movement I want, such as fast or slow movement, and adding motion blur to make the movement look realistic.
